Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12098 is saddened to report the passing of four of our comrades in the month of July, including Post Commander, Henry “Hank” Pasinski, on July 11, 2015.  Life Member Ray Perrson of Buckeye also passed on July 11.  Life Member Tammy L. Baldwin of Winslow passed on July 7.  Life Member Morton J. Koval of Buckeye passed on July 22.

Commander Pasinski will be memorialized with full military honors by his family, friends, and comrades at 10:00 AM on August 1 at Thompson Funeral Chapel on Litchfield Road in Goodyear.

Commander Pasinski was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army with service in Vietnam.  He went on to a career in law enforcement with the New York State Police before retiring to Buckeye in 1989.

Committed to helping his fellow veterans and his community, Hank was active in Post 12098 from its inception in 2011, and was a proud member of the Buckeye Elks Lodge #2686.  He participated in a variety of community projects and was a familiar figure at Buckeye City Hall and at civic events.  He was closely involved with the efforts to establish a VA clinic in the West Valley, lobbying politicians, pressuring bureaucrats, and recruiting numerous veterans to help make that dream a reality.

From assisting veterans in need to providing guidance and moral support to active-duty service members to spearheading the Post’s annual golf tournament fundraiser, Commander Pasinski set an example of roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-your-hands-dirty leadership that encouraged and motivated others.

Commander Pasinski’s contributions to the VFW, his fellow veterans, and the City of Buckeye will not be soon forgotten, and his shoes will be impossible to fill.  Thankfully, for the Post and the community, one of Hank’s greatest contributions was recruiting and mentoring younger veterans to become more involved, and that is a legacy that promises to serve his comrades and the community for years to come.

Commander Pasinski is survived by his loving wife Mary, his son Thomas, and daughter Melanie.

Mary and the family have requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Hank’s memory to VFW Post 12098, PO Box 923, Buckeye, AZ  85326.
